Past Fundraising
Coffee Mornings
Annual fundraising coffee mornings have been held for some years now. These are usually in February, to coincide with Valentine’s Day, and the “heart” theme. They are led by members of the North Berwick class, with excellent support from other classes, and are thus a “county-wide” effort. Held in the Hope Rooms, North Berwick, with wonderful views over the Firth of Forth, they are well-attended, fun and friendly, as well as profitable. In addition to the usual coffee morning fare, fresh fruit is also offered, promoting healthy eating. A very popular home baking stall is organised, in addition to a tombola, and a raffle, well resourced by class members and local businesses. A video containing photos of the event is often produced as a memento. These events bring together members from across the county, providing a chance for them to meet socially.
Trans Alba Race 2019
One of our instructors, Al Langlands, took part in an ultra-distance cycling race around Scotland in 2019. The race spanned 1071 miles, tackled all the major road climbs in the country and Al had to carry all of his clothes and kit.
He finished in just under a week and managed to raise around £2500. You can read more about his adventure here.
